Employee Performance

Ashutosh Punia July 25, 2022

Hi,

We are using Jira as our project management tool and we are using jira on cloud. Also as we are working base on agile concepts, we are using agility boards. In order to evaluate performances of team members, I need to generate a report which gives me accurate statistics on team members. As I am not familiar much with jira reports, at the moment I don't have any idea about which type of report I should generate. Could you please guide me on this :)

Hello @Ashutosh Punia

As an alternative, you can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud. It generates Jira reports (for example Time in Status or Assignee time reports automatically in a few clicks. So you can get the necessary reports safely and save time for more valuable duties.

Also, you can use its JSON Data Feed option to get additional calculated data and share it with some third-party systems.

This add-on is developed by my team. Please, let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help you.

Hi @Ashutosh Punia

You can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status. You can also get assignee based reports.

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. For your case, you can have a look at "Time in Assignee" , "Cycle Time by Assignee" reports.

  • This app has a dynamic status grouping feature so that you can generate various valuable reports as as time in status, time in assignee, status entry dates and status counts, cycle time and lead time, average/sum reports by any field(e.g. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month).
  • You can search issues by Project, Issue Type, Status, Assignee, Issue Creation/Resolution Date(and any other Date field) and JQL Query.
  • Status durations are calculated according to the working calendar you define. Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days.
  • You can set different duration formats.
  • You can export reports in CSV file format and open them in MS Excel.
  • You can also add this app as a gadget to your Jira dashboards and reach “Status Time” from Issue Detail page.
  • You can enable/disable access to Status Time reports&gadgets and Issue Detail page per project, users, groups or project role.

If you are looking for a free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free.

Note: If you are interested in cycle and lead time, you can have a look at the article below.

Hope it helps.

Hi @Ashutosh Punia

Without any app, jira reporting capabilities are very limited. You could experiment with something like easyBi to check if it fits your need.

Also, you should be the one saying the metrics you want to explore, or ate least give some hint on where you want to go.

Hi @Pedro Felgueiras

Okay let me explain, without any add-on i was able to extract data of all the tickets(with specific jql) and transition history, time in status etc, with the help of rest api and than with python i was able to answer the basic question of analysis but how can i co -relate it with each user or any one who worked on that. and how efficiency can be calculated was brain storming over this question now(employee efficiency), Look at this parameter. how these parameter will help for people analytics in a firm like what particular question this paremeter is solving.

By adding such feature we can custom build a tool of our own. with people analytics and all the major feature altogether.

Best Regards

I was just telling you that the way you measure those metrics is very specific for your company. How are you measuring quality speed and skills?

As far as I can see there's no easy way to rate quality, speed, and skills in a generic way.

How are you measuring quality? By the relation of stories and their bugs and reopen times?  Do you add the story points as a coefficient?

Speed? The time spend from In Progress to Resolved and relation to the story points?

Skills? Do you add the seniority level of each user?

Do you have a question on how to implement something in Jira or do you have a question on how to ensure employee performance?
