Epic Functionality Changed?

When moving to the Jira Cloud I saw a note somewhere that the nature of an EPIC changed and cannot find that note anymore.  Can you please help me understand if the nature of the EPIC has changed and how it has changed.

The nature of an epic has not changed in cloud from server or data center.  An epic is an epic.  Cloud has two different project types Team Managed and Company Managed. There are some differences in how the projects work.  This is a great way to learn more about how they can be used in cloud.  https://www.atlassian.com/agile/tutorials/epics
