I've found a weird bug/feature between Company Managed and Team Managed projects.
In team managed, the epic shows in the hierarchy of the task.
In the company managed, only the Jira issue number shows.
We'd like to have a company-managed project, but show the epic in the issue view and edit screens.
The only workaround is editing the issue screen to show "epic link," but this introduces a new challenge as there isn't a way to filter epics in the dropdown to only show the associated project.
Please let me know if there are workarounds to either of these issues. The UI of Jira was one of the main selling points and to not be able to view associated epic in a clean way is frustrating.
There is a suggestion in the backlog to make company-managed projects work the same as team-managed for the parent/epic link in the bread crumbs for new issue view. You may vote/watch it to see progress.
Parent issue type icon and epic name not shown in the new issue view for company-managed project

Since this only has 3 votes, I'm not confident we will get a timely fix. Do you have any suggestions on the filtering of epic links when "epic link" is a field in the view issue screen?

Nikki, I am not following what you are trying to do; would you please explain further?
You are on view issue, and so you can see that issue's data and its parent chain in the bread crumbs. The Epic Link is also a field on that view.
What is the filtering you are trying to do?

In the interim, while we are waiting on the breadcrumb feature, we need some method of visually seeing the epic on the task view. I have done this with the "epic link" field enabled on the issue screen.
The issue here is that when you link an epic through this method, the dropdown shows ALL epics vs. just epic associated with that particular project. I highlighted it in the screenshot above.

Got it, and that is another issue with both open defects and suggestions. Here are a couple of examples to watch/vote for:
Same issue in general with JQL searches...it isn't a SQL and so doesn't limit searches to the current context/project.
