Epic Swimlanes with Epic in other projects

Corrado De Sanctis September 15, 2019

I have a project when issues are collected in Epics

I have created a board with Swinlanes automatically managed by Epics.

Some of the Epic are the one in the project itself, someothers are coming from other project.

The feature in the swinlanes do not list "external epics" neither in the "no Epic" lanes.

What can I do?

Thanks

Hi @Corrado De Sanctis

You'll need to include Epics from the other projects in your search query.

If you're concerned of bringing in more data than you need as the other projects might have "other" Epics not related to your work - you could add a label to the ones of interest to you or a similar identifier - so you could search for:

  • All the stories and epics in your project and...
  • All the external epics with a label verifying they are an "external interest"

Hi Ste,

thank you for your clue

But in this way I import also stories in the other project (inside those epics) and this is not what I need. I should import only the epics.

So I need to use  (projects) and (epic in (1,2,3)) or something similar. do I?

Hi @Corrado De Sanctis

It should be possible to filter for this scenario - for example:

project = ABC or labels = XYZ

^ This would bring in all issues from ABC, including stories, etc or any issues which have the label, which would only include the relevant Epics you tag.

An alternative is to add more functionality to your searches with an advanced JQL app, such as Scriptrunner - where you can search in multiple work levels (for example, searching for all Epics attached to stories in project ABC).

Thank you Ste,

no chance to use Scriptrunner.

I will try your suggestion.

Hello @Inactive Stephen i have the same issue as @Corrado De Sanctis

My problem is that I also want to import the stories of my project which are referenced to another projects epic.

I have Scriptrunner in use, do you have a solution for this?
