Epic time estimates

ngoyal October 25, 2021

I have got multiple tasks under an epic and all the tasks have an estimated time. I can see the summed up estimated time under time tracking for an epic but it does not reflects in the estimated time field of an epic which is further affecting my Burndown charts as it not collecting any data for time estimates. This is the result I get for burndown chart as it is not getting updated with the logged time.

Please help me for the same.

Hi @ngoyal and welcome to the community,

There is a fairly simple workaround to your original estimates problem regarding burnup/burndown charts: don't put original estimates on your Epics. And avoid logging work against your Epics as well.

If you uses scrum, your Epics are on the Epics panel in the backlog and won't move through your board. It is the child issues of those epics that will move through the workflow and will be worked against.

Thank you for that information. But How do we relate the total work log time for the subtasks or the estimated time for the tasks in epics to burndown charts as for now my burndown charts shows nothing.
