Epics don't disappear when marked as "Done"

THEPUBLICGOOD June 8, 2022

I have an epic with all the tasks now complete and the Epic status has been set to "Done", but it still appears in the panel on the backlog and shows on the board when filtered by epic.

If I click on "View all details" I can see the status is "Done"

Is there a way to "archive" an epic that is marked as done so that it doesn't show up here anymore?

Hi @Warrick Bayman  Kindly check Epic Status field is set as "Done", When Epic Status field is Done Epic automatically removed from Backlog or you can manually Mark as Done to remove Epic from Backlog.  Hope it works for you.

Apologies. I posted that as an answer instead of replying to you. I'm struggling to find the "Epic Status" field.

Hi @Warrick Bayman  Go to Project Settings >> under Issues section go to Screens > Open Epic Issue type Screen and check Epic Status field is avaiable on screen or not ?

Thanks. I don't have "Screens" anywhere. If I open "Issues", I can click "Epic" and add fields to the epic issue type if I need to. There is a "Status" under "Context Fields". I'm not sure if that's the same as "Epic Status".

Thanks for the screenshot. You are using Team managed project, i shared steps for Company managed project. In Company Managed project, Epic Status field is available.

For Team Managed project, Epic Status must be Done and Resolution also set to Done. Then it automatically removed from Backlog.

Thanks

Thanks.

Hi. I found "screens" under "Issue" settings from the account dropdown menu in the top right of the page. I don't have an "Open Epic Issue" screen. But I see I can add fields to different screens.

I still don't have an "Epic Status" field. There's a "Status" and a "Resolution" field on the epic. I can't edit the resolution field, and the "Status" field is set to done on the epic, but it still sits in the panel on the backlog.

Thanks for your help. I'll play around a little more.

If you are using Company Managed project, then only you see Screens under Issue section, if screen is mapped with any other jira project then you can't add new fields on screen. For Adding Epic Status field on screen, kindly ask your JIRA Admin.

Thanks for the help. I was unable to get this to work in a team managed project. I was unable to find a way to change the epic status.

However, I migrated the entire project to a new company managed project and now I get what I wanted.

Thanks for the support.

Hi @Vikrant Yadav . Thanks for the quick reply. I can't find "Epic Status" anywhere. I'm definitely missing something here.
