My JIRA Help Desk is on a Server/Data Center. I would like to extract the help desk ticket data to a csv or excel formatted file, but only see an XML option. It there a way to do this?
if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to check out the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields - including all fields from JSM - much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a great, one-click export to Excel or CSV:
With JXL, you can export any number of issues; it is not subject to Jira's built-in issue limit. I should also add that JXL can do much more than that: From support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, to issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes
If the built-in export feature doesn't work, you could try the Better Excel Exporter app. It is also available through the "Export" menu after installation and offers several export formats there:
(Discl. it is a paid and supported app developed by our team.)

No. It can go beyond 1000!
(There is a quota though for trial licenses that limits how many exports you can make within an hour, to be precise.)

Hmm.. not sure why you dont see csv as an option. Try this.. Hover over XML option, right click, "copy link address" to copy URL into notepad, wherever you see XML, change it to csv and paste it in your browser.. it should look like below.. hope it helps.
.../jira.issueviews:searchrequest-csv-current-fields/73087/SearchRequest-73087.csv
NOTE, above URL structure is for when you have saved a filter and where 73087 is filter ID.. so try saving your filter first and change filter ID accordingly. If this works, maybe you can try changing url directly for a JQL without saving.
