Hi,
I'm having trouble finding a way to see the total sum of Remaining Estimates (hours) for sprints.
Does anybody have an idea of how I can find this information?
As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to show it in the Backlog, as remaining estimate cant be chosen as Estimation Statistic (I know that I can add Remaining Estimate to the issue cards, but that doesn't give me the sum for the entire sprint) . Likewise, I cant find any gadgets in the Dashboards that will summarize the Remaining Estimates for a sprint.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction, and I'll much appreciate any suggestions.
Best regards,
Claus
Hello @Claus Østergaard Pedersen ,
Indeed that's a though one, you can try using the "Burndown Chart" gadget from a dashboard;
Then, you would have to go to your board settings, in the "Estimation" parameters and select the "Remaining estimate and ... " option :
Then your burndown chart should decrease depending on the remaining estimate, hence you'll be able to know the total remaining estimate of the sprint i guess.
Let me know how it goes,
Guilhem
Hi Guilhem,
First off all, thanks a lot for your quick reply!
I tried what you suggested, and I can now see the total Remaining Estimate for the sprint in the Sprint Burndown Gadget on my dashboard.
I do wish there was alternative ways to get this information, so that you wouldn't have to "eyeball" it from a chart, as this exercise gets increasingly difficult if the scope of the sprint is changed when the sprint is active.
It would be nice if you could ad a sum total in, lets say, the filter results gadget in Dashboards.
Best regards
Claus

Hi @Claus Østergaard Pedersen ,
You're welcome :)
I know it's not perfect, but unfortunately, as far as I know there is no way to obtain the information you need in Jira.
Maybe you could try with the "Workload Pie Chart" gadget if it's available in your instance (it may come with the Tempo app so I'm not 100% sure you'll be able to use it).
Let me know how it goes !

The "Workload Pie Chart" is actually pretty good! As far as I can tell, it shows the total of "Remaining Estimate" when you choose "Current Estimate" in "Time field to report on".
Thanks a lot for you suggestions!
Best regards
Claus

Hello @Guilhem Dupuy
It's an old thread but hopefully you can still help me :)
Where can I find the "Workload Pie Chart"?
I am still looking for a way to report as @Claus Østergaard Pedersen mentioned in the original post. Sprint Committed Hours vs. Sprint Remaining Hours (sum of all incl. sub-tasks).
I have made a simple query which gives me a sum per PBI. But is there a way to get a total directly in Jira, instead of having to download this to excel and then summing up.
Thanks.

The "Workload Pie Chart" is a dashboard gadget.
So you would have to save your JQL and use that filter in the "Workload Pie Chart" gadget in a dashboard. Then you have the option to select between "Time spent", "Original Estimate" or "Current Estimate".
In regards to reporting on sprints, I would say that the Agile Reports are still your best bet.
I hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply @Claus Østergaard Pedersen
Then it's pretty much the same query that I posted above which I should try in the pie chart widget. Will give it a try. Thanks! :)

Hi again @Claus Østergaard Pedersen
I am not sure if I missed anything.
I am unable to find the "estimate" fields in the statistic type dropdown.
Which fields should I be looking for?
Thanks.

From your screenshot I can see that you are working on Jira Data Center and that you are using the gadget called "Pie Chart" not "Workload Pie Chart".
Apparently, the "Workload Pie Chart" is no longer available in Jira Data Center: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Where-is-workload-pie-chart-report/qaq-p/1066469
I thought you were using Jira Cloud, where the "Workload Pie Chart" is still available.
So unfortunately you are not able to use the functionality described earlier.
Best regards
Claus
