Formatting text in fields(description,comment,acceptance criteria)

Hi,i'm unable to to format(bold,italic,colour) text in description, comment,acceptance criteria etc.

I have changed the format to wiki reindeer,still unable to format the text.

ABC after formatting *ABC* - Bold

ABC after formatting _*ABC*_ - Bold

can someone help me to change the settings

Hi Nic,

Our organization is also facing the same problem. Steps to reproduce:

1. In any ticket, edit Description or Commenting field

2. try changing text color, underline, italic, bold, code, table

3. It shows the code added into the text for text color

for example - screenshots added

Expected result



after saving, it shows color encoding but doesn't change the color

If you have changed the format of the fields to the wiki renderer, then you should see the editing options on the fields when you are in edit mode.  Are you seeing these?

I'm able to see the editing options,but still unable to format the text.

Ok, could you explain "unable to format"?  What happens when you highlight a word and click on the bold button and then save the edit?

No, I am sorry I was not clear, but I am not sure how to explain it.

Click edit to get into edit mode.  Double click so it is highlighted.  Look at the editor bar above the text box.  Click bold.  Save your change.

What do you see in the text when you re-read it after the page reloads?

Hi Nic,Thank you for your time and patience.

I'm able to see the formatted text after page reloads,but unable to view without reloading(while formatting).Is three anyway to see the formatted changes before saving and reloading.

Currently displaying _*ABC*_  while formatting and changes to ABC after reloading.

Ah, so it is working.

The editor does not do wysiwyg in the version of Jira you are on.

Hi Nic, my question wasn't about highlighting texts using mouse pointer to drag or double click to highlight. I want to highlight texts/words with color coding (Like we do in MS word).
