Getting notifications from other projects

Vishal Zanzrukia July 8, 2021

1. I am observing that while fetching notifications for project A for confluence or Jira, I am getting also notifications from different projects (i.e. project B & C etc), this is really annoying because I always manage my single project work at a time.

2. I can't see a clear notification option anymore.

Are these new features? If yes, is there any way to switch off it?

Please help.

Hello!

I have exactly the same problem and I don't know how to only get notifications for a single project.

Could you explain to me how to do it, I am an administrator.

Thank you

Hello @Vishal Zanzrukia,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

On Jira, in case you are using company-managed projects, the notification scheme can be shared between them.

With this said, if you are receiving notifications of other projects, maybe a group you are a member of was added to the notification scheme and the scheme is shared between projects A, B, and C.

If you are an administrator, please go to Project settings > Notifications and confirm if the scheme is shared and what groups, roles, or users are set to receive notifications for specific events.

If not, please reach out to the administrator so they can check and fix it.

- Configure notification schemes

Kind regards,
Angélica

@Angélica Luz thank you so much for your reply but not able to understand below things,

* Why I need someone else's permission about how I want to see my notifications?

* How it was working very well till some days before?

* My point is not just about Jira, it's both Jira and confluence notifications across projects are mixing, it's much productivity impact

* Also, why can't see "Mark as Read" and "Clear" two different options anymore, it was too good to manage my todo from notifications itself. When I read notification, I may still have pending action on it, so I clear it when my pending action is done too.

I don't see an improvement at all with these recent changes, not sure what was the motive behind it.

Awaiting your reply. Hope you understand.

Hello @Vishal Zanzrukia,

Why I need someone else's permission about how I want to see my notifications?

In Jira, you can manage your notifications by going to Profile picture > Personal settings. You can disable all notifications, but the notification scheme will override this option. When the project administrator adds a group that you are part of on the notification scheme to receive, for example, notification when a new ticket is created, you will receive notifications despite you have disabled them on your profile.

How it was working very well till some days before?

Maybe the administrator updated the notification scheme or the site administrator added you to a new group.

My point is not just about Jira, it's both Jira and confluence notifications across projects are mixing, it's much productivity impact.

I can see that you are a user on five different sites, so you need to configure your preferences on each one.

For Confluence, you can go to Profile picture > Settings > Email to disable the notifications and then on the tab “Watches” and click “Stop Watching” on pages that you don’t want to receive notifications anymore.

Also, why can't see "Mark as Read" and "Clear" two different options anymore, it was too good to manage my todo from notifications itself. When I read notification, I may still have pending action on it, so I clear it when my pending action is done too.

If it’s related to the bell icon, the options are there. You can mark the notifications as read the the “Clear” would be the “Only show unread”.
