Github Integration with Next Gen?

Bramus! May 28, 2019

I added Github For Jira (`com.github.integration.production`) to Jira + added the repos to the sidebar of my next-gen project. It looks like everything went well.

However, when viewing in an issue I cannot see the Development Panel (as per documentation) appear along with the issue. When configuring the issue types there's also no way to add add said "Development Panel".

Is there a step that I'm missing? Or is Github For Jira incompatible with next-gen (even though NG suggested to install the app)?

Hi Bram,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Github has integration with next-gen projects. It should show on the tickets "GitHub Development". The Development should appear if you link Bitbucket on your instance.
Is the "GitHub Development" appearing on the tickets?
If it's not, can you please go through the "Get started" on the "Manage apps" page to make sure everything is configured correctly?

Regards,
Angélica

Hi Angelica,

The "GitHub Development" section does not appear on the tickets.

When I check the Jira app on GitHub is says everything is fine:

When I check the GitHub app in Jira, everything is fine too:

Triggering a full sync from withing Jira has no effect.

Thank for the details and screenshots.
On my test instance, the only difference is that there is another add-on for GitHub: Create GitHub Branches from Jira. This is a free app, can you please install and let us know if the Development panel appears?

Thanks, that indeed seemed to trigger the enabling of the “Development” section on tasks, along with a “Github Development” section. The former is for the Github For Jira app, the latter for the Create GitHub Branches from Jira app.

After having installed the Create GitHub Branches from Jira app, and then removing it, the “Development” section on tasks (the one from the Github For Jira app) remains in place.

Hello @Angélica Luz ,

I have the same problem here and installing  the other add-on for GitHub: Create GitHub Branches from Jira.  Did not make the development  panel to show up even if github plugin seems to be installed properly.

Did you have Screenshot from 2019-09-26 17-09-30.pngScreenshot from 2019-09-26 17-12-00.png

Hi Maxence,

Welcome to Community!

As per your screenshot, everything seems correct.

When we use only GitHub it will show GitHub Development. The Development panel will only show if we also use Bitbucket.

Regards,
Angélica

'Create GitHub Branches from Jira' is a separate and unrelated plugin to the official GitHub-supported app. Their app should use the same Developer tab that bitbucket also uses. I would recommend reaching out to the developers of the GitHub plugin for additional support
