Have Jira fields appear in Edit, not Compose

AJ November 27, 2018

I have a Jira issue type "Story." We created some custom fields to track "size" of the effort.

Currently they appear on the Compose view to the person making the request. We want to hide that from their view and only have those fields appear in the "Edit" area of the Issue. The reason for this is that the person making the request doesn't size the work, but the Product/Eng team do.

We use these custom fields to get a rough gauge of how much effort all these various tasks are that are requested of us.

I am open to doing it a different way, but mainly I want the Product/Eng folks to easily t-shirt size something so we can get a pulse when grooming the size of something. I dont want the person making the request to size it nor see the fields in the Compose flow.

HI @AJ
You just need to remove those fields from your Create screen and leave them on the View/Edit Screen

Thanks,

I may not be following the instructions properly, but here is what issue I am still facing.

  1. I "edited" the issue (see image) to remove all the fields except Summary as just a test.
  2. I then go into "Edit" the issue after it is created. I dont see any other "fields" that I wanted to see so that I can fill them out.
  3. As mentioned per my OP, I want to hide a lot of fields from the requestor of the ticket, once it is created then we can go in and add extra data that they dont care about.
