Hide a status column in next-gen board

Unlike classic, where you can add a status but not have that status as a column on your board, it seems with next-gen you can't hide a column on a board?

eg. We want the cancelled status, but not so it takes up real estate on the screen as a column (too many columns means a scroll bar in jira next-gen boards > not great for standups / quick reviews > not a great UX). Furthermore, cancelled is used so sparingly it doesn't deserve (or need) a column.

Just checking to make sure we are correct in the assumption this can't be achieved in next-gen.

Cheers.

Hi @Jason Hollis ,

I'm afraid you can't have unassigned statuses on the board of a next-gen project. There is a pending feature request tobe able to edit the workflow, but I don't think this would address your request either (just in case, here is link to it: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17434)

Hi @Carlos Garcia Navarro thanks for the response, and the link. Yes that's not exactly what we're after. After further investigation we found that you can also only have 1 x status that shows the issue as completed (done), so the request above would actually not do what we want.

As a crude workaround we have created a release called `2020 cancelled` and will mark the issue as `Done` and then move it to that release.

So there is no way to hide a column or archive tiles automatically that have been "Done" for say a week? How was this overlooked?

I had the same problem and was tired of seeing the cramped up columns on my kanban board. And when I was viewing only the issues assigned to me, I had most of the columns empty and un-relevant to me and just taking up all the screen

So created this simple extension to hide any individual column or all the empty columns at once. Maybe this can help you as well.
