I had a certain number of issues on jira with the "team" field empty (approx 55K). I updated all the shared teams because they haven't been updated for a long time and there have been many changes (new people and others who have left) and now when I look at the number of issues with the "team" field empty I see much less (approx. 11K).
Does Jira use shared team information to automatically assign a team to an issue?

Hi @AgileHappyLearner Jira will only assign issues based on settings re: project lead / component lead. It will not assign to a team unless you've setup this assignment or an automation.
I know and that's why this behavior seemed strange to me after updating the shared teams
