Recently, our organization experienced some undetermined issues with Outlook that ultimately caused incoming and outgoing mail from being processed in Jira. It had to take a user to tell us they weren't getting any notifications for us to go check the outgoing mail queue where we found thousands of emails stuck. Anyone have a solution to alert you when the outgoing mail queue hits a certain number? Maybe there is something we can configure that we are missing?
We have a Grafana dashboard for that which shows metrics from JIRA via https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1217960/prometheus-exporter-for-jira?hosting=server&tab=overview.
Here you can find the groovy code for getting the mail queue number (which you could expose via REST with Scriptrunner) and also a ticket @[deleted]: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Answers-Developer-Questions/Monitoring-Mail-Queue-size/qaq-p/516172 with some answers.
Thank you for responding, Christian. Very interesting stuff, we hadn't even thought about using ScriptRunner. Definitely going to check that out.
