How can I clone my Jira Product Discovery Project

I have set up a custom project for a particular product area as a trial. This has been really successful and we want to duplicate it for some other teams including all the custom fields. I can't find a way to do this.

Jira Product Discovery under the hood uses team managed projects. Unfortunately, cloning them or using a shared configuration is not possible for that type of projects. There is a - somewhat dated - feature request for this that you can track here: JRACLOUD-78729 - it is linked to several other related feature requests about copying parts of the configuration.

Beside tracking this issue, that has been waiting in the backlog for the last 5 years. how can we duplicate project, or use a project setting as a model to create other similar projects ?

Atlassian products should include evolutions to easy the work of Atlassian products administration.

With the recent update that introduced different types, I'm changing our JPD project completely - restructuring, changing workflows and allowing contributers to add ideas. I don't like doing such a massive change straight on production, whereas I would feel much more comfortable if I could clone my project -> try everything out -> apply the same change on live (or, make a backup -> make changes on prod and be able to fallback if it doesn't work out).

Using .csv export/import is not really viable, since that process has its own sets of problems

(Although - just stumpled upon sandboxes, hopefully that helps)
