Would like to have version swimlanes in a Kanban backlog as it is provided in a story map. Configuring swimlanes for a Kanban board (fixVersion = "xxx") has no effect.
Hello,
I just tried it in Jira Cloud and it worked for me.
I created a swimlane from query: fixVersion = Version1. Then I added an issue to this version and I could see in my board Version1 and this issue under this version.
If there are no issues attached to a version, then this version will not be visible in the board.

To be clear this works for the Kanban view but not backlog view which @Kerstin Hamann seems to be asking for? Swimlanes don’t exist for Backlog view.

Thanks that is why I cannot see the swimlanes in the Backlog (but unfortunally also not in the Board view)

As @Alexey Matveev mentioned you should be able to do this in the Kanban view as he instructed. Are you saying this does not work for you? If so please provide a screen shot of how you have swimlanes configured.

Sorry I am really frustrated. Hope that the screens help to understand.

If I create a simple filter with the JQL query that I typed in the JQL field of Swimlane configuration it works.

Kindly make sure that there are issue linked to the version, which you provide in your JQL query.

You can see in the screenshot the version Dec 2018 in the backlog as a grey field left before epic name. I checked the fixed version field of stories and yes that Dec 2018 version is linked. I have no idea. As I sad before the story map view shows the items ordered by version if I switch on version swimlanes.

@Kerstin Hamann, you need to stop looking at the backlog if you are talking about swimlanes. Swimlanes only apply to the Kanban board here. Please click on the "Kanban Board" and see if your swimlane is there. NOTE: any of the issues shown under the backlog will not show in the Kanban board as they are not in progress.

Hi, Can one of you please let me know, how do I create swimlanes (class of services) in the Jira NextGen project? It's straightforward in Classic but I am unable to find it out. Is it only through Jquery? If so, can you please list all the detailed steps (preferably with screenshots as well)? Thanks a lot, Krishna

Hi @Kerstin Hamann,
When you mean,
"Configuring swimlanes for a Kanban board (fixVersion = "xxx") has no effect."
could you explain what you are trying to achieve? This should assist when trying to answer your query.
Thanks

I would like to have a Kanban backlog where items are ordered by version (fixVersion). The version I want to have as kind of seperator, title. I think that is what swimlanes do. What I did is the following: create stories, create versions and assign stories to versions, enable Kanban Backlog and configure swimlanes (Board configuration) as JQL in that way:
Dec 2018 Release fixVersion = "Dec 2018"
What I want is a Kanban backlog that looks like this:
Dec 2018 Release
story 1
Jan 2019 Release
story 2
Story 3
I use Jira Server (not Cloud).
