Hey.
I have tried to create labels, but each time I got blocked.
Firstly I was instructed to add them manually in here:
project settings -> work types -> open each one -> drag the label from the list and manually update it. However it does not work.
Secondly they told me that I need to create an automation. I have done so thanks to the AI, however, still not visible when I open a new issue (also received a failure email).
Can anyone assist?
Hi @Diana Apostol , you need to open your work item and just type something to the labels field. If you want add any label as default, please create automation rule for it.
It can be helpful:
https://support.atlassian.com/jira/kb/edit-and-rename-labels-in-jira-cloud/
https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/organize-your-rules-with-labels/
just type something to the labels field. -> as mentioend before it does not allow me to type.

Welcome @Diana Apostol
When you say blocked, what do you mean? Do you get any errors? There aren't any permissions that block you from adding labels. To add a label, you simply start typing the label you want to add and it will create it automatically for you. No automation needed.

Actually I see that there is a ticket created as a bug: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-95324
I think it is related to this.
this doesn't work:
add a label, you simply start typing the label

You need to be either on the issue creation screen or the issue view screen. Currently, this is issue layout screen.

I have used labels in the past and I am sure that they can be created with several words.

Sure. The error that you are seeing indeed cannot have any spaces. So you would need to use underscore like this: retailer_new_launch in order for the label to be relevant. The screenshot that you took now is the create issue screen (when you click the blue button that says create on it).
Here is the label created from my side.
