How can I customise the buttons and layout ?

,Perhaps i want to move options out from the dropdown etc. How can this be done?

Hi @NTNT 

You can change the workflow statuses order by adding  opsbar-sequence in the workflow statuses properties section. You should consider using values like 0, 10, 20... in order to make it easier to make changes to the order later.

@sekhar reddy , if you don't mind me asking one more question, can I perhaps change the name of the dropdown named "Workflow" ? if so, how can i do this.

As of now there is no option to change this name, please raise support request to Atlassian on the same request.
