How can I generate/consult a Gannt based on an Epic and its related Stories and Subtasks?

Mathieu Daudelin April 29, 2025

I have Epics, which have Stories and Subtasks. I want to be able to view a Gannt Chart that would show me a timeline of these where it would be possible to make Stories and/or Subtasks happen simultaneously or sequentially (depending on interdependencies). Is it possible?

It’s worth mentioning that I’m a total noob in Jira. But that’s probably already obvious in my question ;)

Thank you for your concern.

Best regards,

Hi @Mathieu Daudelin,

You should come a long way with Jira's out of the box timeline view. It is one of the views that comes with a board in your project.

To spoil the fun a bit up front: it is not a classic gantt chart, but it is very similar in terms of visualising what you explain.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout,

Thank you for your reply!

The Jira timeline guide shows exactly what I need indeed. Although when I hop to this view I see no existing Epics, only a way to create a new one. Would you know what causes this?

Cheers,

No way to fix this?
