I am trying to make a field appear.
I find it quite frustrating, I have tried to understand the configuration of screens and fields but I don't get it.
Are there any tips or tutorial explaining this in a crystal clear way?
How can I check which screen I am viewing so I know where to add it?
I just want to add a field to the current view.
Hello @Anders Timsjö
Screens and Fields configuration can indeed be confusing for new users. Thus, I understand your pain here. In your case you have to add "time tracking" field on the screen associated with Task type.
Your Jira admin should be able to do it in a jiffy, or do you have admin rights?

How to forms come in to the picture then? As it says my field is not present on the form.
If I go to backlog and view the issue there then the field Time tracking is visible. Or if I open the issue in the active sprint board.
But not if I open i the issue separately.

Go to project admin, look for the "issue type screen scheme" and descend into it - there are several layers but each one does show you the next (as per diagram - you'll be working your way up through the central green screens)

Hello,
There are 3 screens available for an issue: Create, Edit, View. You should go to the settings of the project, to which your issues belongs, and then choose Screens. You will see the screens, which are used for create, edit and view for each issue type.
