How can I remove tickets from a JIRA Core board?

Varsh Srivatsan May 7, 2019

I am trying to remove all "Rejected" and "Accepted" tickets from the board view in JIRA core because they are completed. I do not have access to board settings.

Hi @Varsh Srivatsan ,

Boards are built on filters, and the filters are set in the board's settings. So, the short answer is that if you don't have access to the board's settings you probably won't be able to modify the filter either. If you know the name of the filter and you have access to it you could modify it to exclude those statuses, but your project admin would probably not like that very much.

The good news is that you can create a filter and build a board yourself; here are some documents that explain how:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracorecloud/searching-for-issues-765593657.html

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracorecloud/saving-your-search-as-a-filter-765593721.html

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracorecloud/working-with-boards-800712866.html

Remember, however, that boards and filters are considered "shared objects" so if your admin has not given you access to create shared objects you won;t be able to share your new board and filter with anyone.

Hope this helps,

-Scott

Thank you, Scott. That's what I thought too but I am a site administrator and I still don't see board settings on the JIRA Core board view. I see board settings for JIRA Software projects, so I think this is a specific JIRA Core issue - HR project. I do see that:

  • Issues disappear from the last column after 14 days of inactivity. Select the link at the bottom of this column to see them again

Which is good.

@Varsh Srivatsan , I don't think this is a Core issues...Even the site-admin does not have access to the settings of a board they do not own. So, the board mat be shared with you, but ownership and the ability to modify it remains with the person that created it. The person that created the board would need to add you as an Administrator for you to make changes to it.
