I need to track how much the task spends at the status "In Progress".
To calculate how much time the team spends in progress during the sprint.
Please let me know if Jira has enough functionality to handle this.
Thanks Dave for mentioning our app.
Hi @Casper

Hello @Casper
As an alternative , I guess you can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud (by my SaaSJet team) which was developed exactly for tracking how much the task spends at the status "In Progress".
Time in Status for Jira Cloud can help track and analyze your team performance metrics easily, including how much time your team members spend on different tasks and how much time is spent in different workflow stages. You can also export data to CSV and XLSX files for further analysis or share reports with third-party analytical systems.
Add-on have a 30-day free trial version and free up to 10 users.
Please, let me know if you have any questions
Hope it helps š

Hello @Casper
Jira does not provide this functionality out-of-the-box. You will need to use a marketplace app to get ready-to-go reports.
Our team at OBSS built Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira for this. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.
Time in Status mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or each assignee.
You can combine the time for multiple statuses to get metrics like Issue Age, Cycle Time, Lead Time, Resolution Time etc.
For all numeric report types, you can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example total in-progress time per customer or average resolution time per sprint, week, month, issuetype, request type, etc. The ability to group by parts of dates (year, month, week, day, hour) or sprints is particularly useful here since it allows you to compare different time periods or see the trend.
The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well. It supports both Company Managed and Team Managed projects for Jira Cloud.
Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts.

Hi @Casper
What do you mean by "track"? Do you need a list of numbers or to just know the time in status somehow?
What would you do if you had that information right now; how would your team behave differently?
The answers to those questions may help you decide what you need to solve this. You could start by looking at Atlassian's built-in, interpretation of a control chart to see how that helps. Please look here for more information on using that: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/view-and-understand-the-control-chart/
That chart has some limitations, and so if it does not meet your needs consider other options, like the addons from the marketplace, pulling the data with the REST API for external reporting, or build your own with automation rules and custom fields.
Kind regards,
Bill

By default, Jira doesnāt show the requested information, yet, you will find many apps in the marketplace that would provide you that with a sleek design, and many of those are free.

Correct, unless it would be possible via REST API, but I have no knowledge in that domain.
