I need to disable all changing/ editing of parent task and its sub-tasks. How can I disable the 'convert to issue'?

The "Convert to Issue" and "Convert to Sub-Task" links in the "More" menu can be deactivated system-wide in the Issue Operations Plugin in your UPM.

Hello Marion,

The only option to restrict this kind of change with JIRA functionalities would be to removing the move issues permission from the users, however, it would cause them to don't be able to change the projects of the sub-tasks too.

Another option would be by using ScriptRunner plugin, which has the ability to hide the move button with the Hide UI element built-in function in ScriptRunner. You can set a condition that the button will be visible only for certain issue types, or possibly by user roles or group membership. Please see:

Let me know if one of the options work for you, Marion.

Hello, ´Convert to Issue´ is still visible. Screen Shot 2019-02-11 at 4.17.26 PM.png

Disabling ´move issues´ in the user permission, successfully removed the move button from the subtask and parent task menu. However, it is still possible to convert the subtask to an issue with the ´Convert to Issue´ in the sub-task menu.

Is there an option to hide the  ´Convert to Issue´ button ?

to clarify, disabling the ´move issues´in teh user permission, sucessfully removes the ´Convert to Sub-Task´from the parent menu, however the convert button is still visible on the sub task menu.

Remove the sub-task issue types from your project's Issue type Scheme. Problem will be Solved.

If you want sub-tasks in your project, Please use the suggestion given above to use Script runner.

I'm going to +1 what I believe @Marion Dlugokinski is saying.

In my case, a user who definitely does not have "Move" permissions was able to convert a sub-task to an Issue. I don't want him to be able to do that, but I definitely need the feature to exist, but as the jira admin, I use it all the time.

So either the Move permission is not working as expected, or that's not the permission governing access to the "convert to issue" feature, or.... perhaps there's something here I don't understand.
