How can we know the status of Copying Index

Venkata Sagar October 3, 2022

Hi Team

In our Jira we have four nodes , I have done lock reindexing of one node by getting it out of cluster. After that i started copying indexes from one node to another node. I am getting like Index is being copied from Node 1 to Node 2 .  but after long hours getting the same.

Can any one help me how to know the status of the Copying Index.

Thanks

Sagar

@Venkata Sagar

Check the Jira logs and check the indexing page for that node and see what's the status there.

Hi Benjamin

Thank you for the reply!!

In Indexing page We are only getting this " Index is being copied from  node Node 1 to node  Node 3"  .  We cannot see the status.

Thanks

Sagar

Hi @Benjamin  Its just showing job started.

ex -  ClusterMessageHandlerServiceThread:thread-1 INFO [c.a.j.index.ha.DefaultIndexCopyService] Index backup started. Requesting node:
node2

I am looking how much percentage completed.

Anyothwer way to found it?

In my experience, it's been a hit or miss. However, the percentage does show up in the logs when it works. Also, it shows up in the UI.

What I find that helps is to clean the index entirely and start from scratch. clean all the indexes. Start with node 1. When node 1 is done, then bring up nodes one by one or all the other nodes at once.
