Hello All,
New to the Jira world. We have Jira setup for multiple departments and using the components field. I cant seem to find a way to group edit components. I'm only able to mass assign tickets to myself. Is there anyway to do this, or create a rule where if a ticket is assigned to me the component field changes to what i want.
Thanks in advanced!
Hi David - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Yes, there are ways to do this.
Can you outline exactly what you would like to happen and when?
If were taking the rule route. I would like, when I assign a ticket to myself the components is automatically changed to Infrastructure.
If its possible to mass edit. I ideally would like to be able to select each ticket and mass change all those tickets into infrastructure. Right now I have to go one by one to change "New" to "Infrastructure" each time I assign a ticket to myself.

Hi David,
If I have understood correctly then there are two requirements;
1. Existing tickets assigned to you to set to Infrastructure components. For this, did you try the Bulk changes feature with a JQL to filter the issue that are assigned to you but not having components as Infrastructure?
2. Add Infrastructure components when ticket assigned to you. For this Automation for Jira rule may help with Issue Assigned trigger and Condition if assigned is equal to your username, update the components.
Apologies if understood incorrectly.
Regards,
Sanmat
