I am part of a small manufacturing business (Jira users would be between 8-10). I am wanting to utilize the Kanban feature for workflow and bottle necks in our process as I have utilized this software when I was with a larger company for engineering projects. Our server is outdated (Windows SQL 2003, I think...). If I install Jira Software via evaluation/cloud based, will I be able to customize the Kanban board to my liking (i.e. multiple columns with statuses matching our terminology)? Also, can Kanban boards communicate between each other if two were created? We are planning on upgrading our server and will install a "server" base software at a later date. I am just trying to see if this software will be a good fit for our business. Any help is much appreciated!!
Hello,
What do you mean by Cloud based? Are you going to have Jira Cloud or Jira Server?
If you create Jira Software boards, then you can have multiple columns with multiple statuses.
What do you mean by "Kanban boards communicate between each other"?
Due to how old our server is, I would need Jira Cloud initially. If this fits what we are wanting, we would continue with this option. If the cloud based doesn't, we would go to the server based option once we upgrade our server.
So, I can create any customizable Kanban board regardless if it is Cloud based or Server based?
Due to the amount of columns we would need, I was wondering if we could have one board for "planning" and another board for progress tracking. I would like to know if we move a current project into the last stage of one Kanban column, would it show up in the other Kanban board? Or, would we have to create only one with all columns desired?

You can have two boards connected with the way you want. You would need to write the correct JQL queries for these boards. I think you should try it first. If you have any questions regarding the JQL query or these Kanban boards, kindly ask.

Thank you Alexey for the information. I plan on installing the 7 day free trial and evaluating on it works for our business process. I will come back here for any questions i have moving forward.
It is really nice to see support for a product like this!
