We're running JIRA Server 6.3. We're recently added a new project and created a workflow it and neglected to add a way to resolve the issue. I modified the workflow but published the draft before the Resolved step was complete and now I cannot edit the Resolved step.
I returned to an inactive copy of the last correct workflow and made additional changes to that. However, I'm unsure how to make it active. Do I first add the correct workflow to the workflow scheme of the project, using the Add Workflow->Add Existing and then remove the old workflow?
Fortunately, there's not a lot of activity on this project yet. Are there any negative ramifications for removing the old workflow?
Thanks so much!
Teri
Hey @Teri Simonds
Here is some documentation on how to Activate a Workflow.
The only reasons not to remove an inactive workflow that are no longer needed is to keep the instance clean. You'll want to keep at least one draft inactive workflow for each active workflow that way if you make a change to the workflow, activate it, and it breaks something you can always revert back to the old workflow.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, Brittany. I think that's where I'm a bit confused. We have a workflow scheme, with a workflow attached to it. I found this information: Configuring Workflow Schemes
It contains a table that describes what I think I need to do. In adding another workflow and selecting all the issue types, it looks like the V2 workflow will inactivate the V1 workflow. Are those the steps that I need to replacing an existing workflow (which would include reverting back to the old workflow)?
As you can tell, I'm new to administering workflows. Thanks for your help!
Teri

Hi Teri,
Yes adding the V2 workflow will make the V1 workflow inactive for all the issue types you have selected. Yes the documentation you linked will help you to get what you need. I am going to do screenshots of how to replace see below. I find that going to the project itself is easier to change the workflow. My project is called Service Desk Demo -> Workflows -> Add Workflow -> Add Existing -> Find your workflow, select it then click 'Finish' -> Select the issue types you'd like to change -> Finish.
I hope this helps. It's usually easier for me to visually see something, let me know if this helps! If you need more help, I don't mind assisting you over Skype if you'd like.

Thank you! I held my breath, and did the deed! And it appears to work. The V2 workflow is now active and does not appear to adversely affect other projects (which was my big fear).
This community is awesome!
