I found this description:
You can configure cards on a board to display up to three additional fields. The fields can be different for the Backlog and Active sprints, if you are using a Scrum board.
To add fields to cards:
but I don't have 'Board settings' as an option.
you cannot. that option is for Classic projects only. at least at this time.

Do you own the board? The board owner should see board settings.

Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing?

btw...this really should be a different question since the original is specific to NG projects. but since we are already here...

ok. that is a default "Business Project" board you cannot configure that. Create your own kanban board using the appropriate filter, e.g. project = "Lead Tracking". You will need to select your profile as the "Location". Then on the sidebar of your project add a link to board.

The other topics say that there is no possibility to create multiple boards in Jira next-gen. What are you talking about?

I'm also on next gen, am an overall domain as well as project admin. all I get top right via ... (3dots) is 'manage rules' option. So there is no way for me to manage columns statuses etc as usual, just a plus sign at the end to add new columns, not enough functionality there. 'classic software project' gives me all the options though. This should still be available somewhere on next-gen, frustrating

thanks @Jack Brickey , why is it 'next-gen' then if it's got much less configurability? it's more useless for business purposes surely? I don't want a dumbed-down facebook interface. I haven't met another scrum master/delivery lead who likes this new format

@Lynton Bell I think next-gen refers to the underlying architecture they're built on. I get the impression that next-gen is re-architecting and re-building JIRA from the ground up and therefor, since it's a rewrite, they haven't reached feature parity with "Classic" projects. Here's hoping the add this feature to NG projects sooner rather than later.
This seems to be the Atlassian JIRA ticket for adding this feature to NG projects: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17336

Is there any way to add 'Custom Fields' as one of these 3 fields within a card?
for example,
My project uses Labels, and i'd like them shown,
However we also have a 'Custom field called' Customer Labels that is kept separate from Labels- i'd like to show that too?
Are we restricted by the drop down list for the fields that can be shown in these cards?
Or can i add custom fields to this list somewhere?
it works in issue detail view fine, but ideally i want this to show within the card, in a Kanban Board
Any hep greatly appreciated
Harry
