I am using a company-managed project in Jira. I know how to add a "blocked" status, however, I'd like for the word to appear on my Epic timeline in red, just like "Done" shows in green when it's completed. I'd also like to show any tasks, stories, as blocked on the sprint in Backlog and the sprint view.
How do I do this? Is it possible?
Hello @Tosha Liveoak
Are you referring to the Timeline available under a Plan (from the Plans menu), or the Timeline available from the navigation panel on the left when you are simply viewing a board?
Can you provide a screen image that shows the display of "Done" to help us better understand the view you want to change?
Hi @Trudy Claspill , thanks for reaching out so quickly! Not in the Plans menu. Here's a screenshot for a Kanban software project. The same would go for a scrum project that I am looking for. See the purple arrow to the right in the Timeline view where it says "Done." I know there is a way to flag something, but it doesn't show up in this Timeline view or in others. It only lets you see a flag WHEN you open the card. I would like a CLEAR representation in each of these views that something is blocked. Where the card and row are red for example, in both the Backlog and Kanban/Scrum boards, and in Timeline view should show "BLOCKED" in red like the Done is. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you for that additional information.
The green "Done" that you are pointing at with the purple arrow is a special indicator. It is only used to show the Status of the item when that Status value is part of the "Done" Status Category. This can't be modified in this basic Timeline view. You will not be able to achieve your desired outcome in this view.
This Timeline view is very basic. There is very little that can be done to modify it.
You mentioned two things; a "blocked" status and "flagging" the issue. Flagging an issue is a separate feature from the issue Status. Are you actually using a status named Blocked, or are you using the Add Flag feature.
There may be some options available in the Backlog and Board views depending on which you are using.

I am using both the status and the flag. I understand the timeline view here is very limited. Just thought to ask in case I am missing something. Is this achievable with other views?

With the Timeline view available in a Plan (created from the Plans menu) you can have the Status and Flagged fields for each issue displayed.

Thanks for that! Any idea if something like this is achievable with the Kanban/Scrum board or backlog views? Or potentially highlighting the entire card red for example?

The Status for each issue should be visible in the Backlog views by default. The Flag icon also shows up by default.
In the Board view the Flag icon also shows by default. The Status value is not usually explicitly displayed because the Column is an indicator of the Status.
Also, when I add a Flag, the card color is automatically changing in both the Board view and Backlog view. I didn't do anything in the configuration to make that happen.
I tested this in both Team Managed and Company Managed software projects.
If you want the Status to be explicitly displayed in cards in the Board view then in Company Managed projects only you can change to Card Layout (in Board Settings) to add the Status field to the card.
To highlight cards that have a specific Status value:
1. In Company Managed projects only you can add queries to add a band of color to cards that match the query. This is not available in Team Managed projects
