How do I instantly notify someone a custom date field has been reached?

I have tickets that have a custom Date Time Picker field and I would like to notify a specified Jira user (using another custom User Picker single user field) when that time/date is reached/past.

I have filters to find that data when scheduled using the Filter Subscription, but a) I want this to be triggered by the date/time being reached and b) I can only assign to myself and groups. In this case I want to add it to the specified user for that change.

I wondered if there was anything clever in the automation that would allow this sort of activity?

Hi @Beka Warriner

Uou would require an add-on like scriptrunner to achieve what you described whereby you have an event fired by a scheduler when the condition you want is true.

Other alternatives that come to mind are using SLA duration based features like those from Service Desk or Time to SLA.

I do not have a script for this but hope this gives you an idea you can proceed with.

Meant service instead of scheduler.

there is an escalation sample that could serve as a starting template.
