How do I make a custom project?

Hey all,

My organization has been using templated projects, and I wanted to make a custom project board instead of using the out-of-the-box templated ones.

We'd like to have the project setup like the screenshot, where we can add a calendar, gantt chart, and take off the checklists/slack integration.

I understand Gantt charts are apps, and have downloaded WBS Gantt-Chart. The issue with this app is that it's a different place, and isn't integrated into the project. Is there one that I can view in the project view?

Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Max

There is a lot of "gotchas" in my answer - apologies if it's confusing.

So, first answer - c eate a new project and choose "Software Development" section, then Bug Tracking as the project type.  (assuming you don't want a Team-Managed project), With that, you won't get a board to start.
If you select Kanban or Scrum you'll be prompted to select either Company Managed or Team managed, which will start you with a board, or a Team managed project (which are a totally different thing).
The boards themselves are not really tied to the project, they're just how those types of projects typically start off.  You can move them around in their settings, if happen to want to use an existing project, which can remove them from the UI.

As for the shortcuts you crossed off, you cannot remove them.  There are existing feature requests for the functionality required to do that, but they're going to be there for all classic projects for now.

You will have to go into the administration functions and find the configuration for the WB Gantt-Chart to see if it's something you can add to the project (I'm not familiar with that app) - or you can add a shortcut (one of the things you crossed off) that accesses it's URL directly.  Some allow you to toggle functionality for the project, but not all do.

This helps a lot, thanks!

I'm looking into adding a calendar, and any gantt chart app onto the shortcuts side. Is there a way to have shortcuts specific to each project?

I'm an admin of my organization but I have 0% familiarity with the admin function. Where would I go for the configuration of the Gantt chart?

Sincerely,

Max

Hi Max,

This is Hal from Ricksoft, a vendor of WBS Gantt-Chart.

Assuming you have already downloaded WBS Gantt-Chart for Cloud, you can add a shortcut link to the Gantt-Chart in the project sidebar menu by the steps below.

  1. Create a Gantt-Chart from the Project
  2. Copy the Gantt-Chart URL displayed on the browser
  3. Add a shortcut with the Gantt-Chart URL

Best,
Hal
