I've been handed some Jira projects which historically have used sub-tasks in an interesting way - having different sub-task types as children of a story. For example, UAT sub-task, development sub-task, spike sub-task etc.
The origanization approach is now to use only one sub-task type (Sub-Task). There are thousands of these orginal sub-tasks which I need to transition to this one Sub-Task issue type. How can I do this as a bulk edit and keep the parent-child relationship?
ie Story->UAT-sub-task should be Story->Sub-Task. With thousands of issues.
It is not an option to rename the different sub-task types!
Thank you
See Sirko Mantheys answer in this thread - this just saved us: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Bulk-move-subtasks-to-new-type-WITHOUT-changing-the-parent/qaq-p/1133655

If you perform bulk edit and select move then you will get an option to keep or change the parent issue. Check the screenshot below.
It will be a bit challenging to do it for thousands of issues. May be break it up in batches from issue navigator.

Hi @Ravi Sagar _Sparxsys_ , that's great thank you. I'll try that.

I have an issue to move the issue type from a child issue type "Root-cause" to another one which is the "sub-task".
These issue types have different screens and fields.
I was able to move it from "sub-task" to "root-cause" but it is not working vice-versa.
