Hi guys! I'd like to report in my next-gen software project, looking at the assignees and how many jobs they complete and when, from my kanban board and sprints.
In the Reporting, it seems very limited, and I cannot add filters or anything additional from the prescribed Burnup report, Sprint burndown report, and Cumulative flow design.
In my other projects, like Service Desk, the Reporting is a bit more advanced, and I can add relevant filters to show me more intricate results. But on my kanban board in my next-gen software project, I can't filter my results the way I want.
Is there any alternative or add on I can use that will solve this problem?
Or am I missing something within Jira, as ideally I'd like to not use addons!
Thanks,
Francesca
As far as built in reports, WYSIWYG. However, have you consider creating a Dashboard? Define the filters you want, save and associate to various gadgets. Beyond that consider addons or maybe leverage a BI source, e.g. MS PBI.
Hi Jack, thanks for this! Are there any gadgets within the Dashboard that you'd recommend over others? Are any slightly more advanced than others?
Additionally, are there any addons that you'd recommend? I couldn't find MS PBI in the Atlassian Marketplace.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

It depends on a few things, e.g. the number of assignees and personal preference. I would suggest looking at the two-dimensional gadget and setting the assignee to the y-axis and maybe status to the x-axis. I use this quite a bit.
I don’t use any addons for this so I can’t really recommend one. For PBI, it isn’t an addon but rather in PBI you would reference your cloud instance. I recommend goggle search for more, here is one old article I found - explore-your-jira-data-with-power-bi . There are also some Community post from other members doing this so use the Community search as well.

Hi Jack - you read my mind! After your first message I created a gadget with the two-dimensional gadget, with the assignee as the y-axis and status as the x-axis! Do you know if there are any gadgets that allow you to add more than one filter?
For example, in the reporting on Service Desk, you can add more complex filters. So would I be able to compare two different filters in any of the gadgets in the dashboard? Or all more than one filter?
Can you only explore the Jira data with Power BI if it's Cloud based?

no unfortunately this is not possible. IMO it is a real missing feature and I wish I could leverage the "Reports" capabilities on Dashboards. There are addons to explore for this for sure.

Hi Jack, thanks for letting me know. Exactly, glad you think the same as me. Do you or maybe @John Funk know if this is something Jira/Atlassian are looking into developing soon?
Let me know if either of you can recommend any specific addons for what I'm after. I'll take a look soon too!

Typically, I just create two gadgets - one showing data from one filter and then another showing data from another filter.
Can you be more specific as to exactly what kind of data you would like to see?

Hi John, I think that this might work for me, thanks for explaining how you do it your side. I've had a little play around and I think it's capable of doing what I'd like.
One other question for you and @Jack Brickey though!! If I wanted to export the a table from the dashboard, is this possible? Or is the only way to export data by exporting it into an Excel from the Filters section, and creating your own charts in Excel/PowerPoint?
Thanks!

You can’t export dashboard data directly other than screenshots, so yes, you would need to export the results of the filters to CSV/excel.

Thanks Jack! I'll let you know if I have any more questions.
Really appreciate your help, and yours too @John Funk !
