How do I select next-gen backlog issues in a new board?

Nilan Bhattacharya July 23, 2019

I created 2 Kanban next-gen projects.  I enabled the backlog in these.

I then created a board for all issues (using a filter).  The 'To-do' column in this board has both the 'To-do' and 'backlog' items from my projects.  How do  I create a backlog column in this new board separate from the 'To-do'

Hello Nilan,

To create a new column for the backlog status in your Kanban board, you just need to perform the steps below:

- Navigate to your board > Board settings > Columns

- Note that both statuses To-do and Backlog will probably be mapped in the same column

- Drag and drop the "backlog" status in the Kanban backlog column. It will drag your backlog issues to a separated view in your Kanban board, keep the other columns in the Kanban board view:

P.S: Note that you might have two statuses with the same name on each column. This happens because Next-gen projects do not share the same status, so a new status is created for each project you have on the board.

Let me know if you still have any questions.

When I create a next-gen project, I enable the backlog. However, I create a board with all issues, all the issues, both in the backlog and the ones in the todo of the board, are considered in the 'todo' column.  I can't select the ones in the backlog, from the next-gen project.  They are all in one big list.

If I click on the backlog on the next-gen project, it shows the items from the board and the ones from the backlog.  It shows:

Board - 8 issues

Backlog - 17 issues

@Petter Gonçalves can you let me know if you have any other ideas?

Hello Nilan,

Could you please provide us with a screenshot of how your columns are configured?

Basically, navigate to your board > Board settings > Columns and take a screenshot of the columns together with the mapped statuses under the columns.

The backlog list should only display the issues from the backlog column, not from the board itself, so I believe that some settings or unexpected behavior should be causing the problem.

Next gen project:

Note the 8 issues on the board are both todo and inprogress

I then created a filter for all issues and created a board using that filter.

Here are my board settings for the all issues board:

Note that from the next-gen project I had 13 issues in the backlog and 5 on the board.  All of them are labeled 'Selected for Development'.  How do I select the ones form the backlog and send them to the backlog on the board.
