How do I set the date formatting preferences for me personally?

j.reed December 11, 2023

My company's instance of Jira uses a default formatting of dd.MM.yyyy which is expected in Europe (found this under Cog-> System -> User Interface -> Look and Feel). This is also the format that I would want, but for some reason when I see dates (like when booking work time on tickets) I get the US formatting MM/dd/yyyy which I do not want.

There doesn't seem to be, or I cannot find a specific user based preference to change to bring me in line with the company default settings. It would be nice if this were a user preference and not hide it under tons of different configuration options. It's so annoying.

Hi @j.reed

I have experienced that the preference setting change some times  takes a bit of time to reflect.

Can you check again (may be after 10m) on the fields after changing the language to English UK?

No there was no change even days after I changed the language to English UK.

Hi @j.reed ,

It depends on your preferred language on your profile. Please refer to https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/how-do-date-and-time-formats-work-in-the-issue-view/ for more details.

Hope this helps.

Sadly it does not appear to be so. I changed my language from English US to English UK and the date format is still in the US format. So I think Atlassian needs to do more work in providing better preferences for users.
