How do I use Groups to share dashboards/filters with specific users?

I've created groups with specific users on various teams in our company. I want to use these groups to share custom dasboards/fitlers. When I go to Share and select from the dropdown, my custom groups are not available. 

I did add the groups to the "jira-software" Application.

Are you also a member of those groups? In order to share with a group, you'll also need to be a member of the group yourself.
