Hi @Rebecca Roberts,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

In order to remove done epics from the drop-down you have to set the epic status. This is different from the workflow status. I would recommend that you set it as part of the workflow, or that you have an automation that sets the epic status when you move it to a Done status. Take a look at Linking Epic Status to the Epic Issue Status for more information (the KB is for Data Center, but applies to Cloud as well).

Thank you Mikael! I just had a Homer Simpson DOH moment, you are so right. I missed that completely.

I have a similar problem where the behavior is inconsistent. I have 2 Closed Epics where all of the issues within the Epic are also in the Closed workflow status, but they are still appearing in the Epic Panel.

Don't know if I need to put this 2nd request in a different thread, but I want to be able to order the Epics in the Epic panel. I've tried everything I found in help articles, what my company Jira Admins suggested and none of it holds. I haven't been able to discern any pattern as to why the Epics appear in the order they do in the Epic Panel.

Hi Meetinghouse,

Similar to my issue, I realized that the "Epic Status" Field did not exist on the record to be updated. There is the Workflow which facilitates the movement and resolution however with Epics, the Epic status is what marks them truly "Done Done" from a completion perspective. Removing from the epic panel.

This can be confusing to users because the workflow may have marked the issue complete and resolved however it's still showing up.

I'd first check to confirm the Epic Status field is configured to be on the screen. If it isn't then that is the first step, associate to the screen you need it on.

Once that is confirmed, then it would be to validate the status is set to "done". If not, once you update the Epic Status, it will remove from the Epic Panel. (I'm not sure if there is a connection to whether all children have been completed to allow you to mark the status as done)

If that is true and they are showing done in the Epic Status field, then that may warrant a bug.
