How do we find running timers when using time tracking?

We really appreciate being able to start a timer in a task to track develop, testing, customer education, etc. What we are finding is that a timer is started but people get distracted or sidetracked and now the timer continues to run until someone finds it...hours, days, even weeks later.

Is anyone aware of a way to find timers that have not been stopped?

Any guidance/insight would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Natalie

Hi @Natalie Beiler , to my knowledge Jira Cloud does not natively support running timers, but instead has you log time as a unit of measure.

Do you have an additional third-party add-on that supports time tracking? If so, could you share a screenshot of the specific feature in use? The running timers feature may be a part of that add-on, and knowing which you're using will help determine if seeing all running timers is a supported feature.

As an aside, here is the Atlassian Documentation related to configuring time tracking in projects: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-time-tracking/

@Robert DaSilva

Thank you for the quick response. I did a little more digging and found the gadget for "My running timers" in the app we are using which is exactly what I was missing.

Have a great weekend!

Hi @Natalie Beiler , that's great!

Are you able to share the name of the add-on you're using?

Thanks @Natalie Beiler for sharing! Hopefully that helps the next person who's running into the same issue.

Taking a look through the documentation, it seems Timesheet Tracking for Jira offers the capability for Jira Admins to see all running timers. The screenshots imply that you can see all running timers by clicking the three-dots menu beside a currently running timer inside of an issue view. That would be item number three (3) in the screenshot below. I've also included a link to the documentation itself.

@Robert DaSilva I found that if I go to our Apps --> Timesheet and select the icon to start work, the window for viewing MY TIMERS and ALL TIMERS opens from the right side of the screen which is exactly what I was looking for.

Finding this is like hidden treasure on a Friday afternoon. 😉😊

@Natalie Beiler Outstanding! Glad you were able to find that feature!

Based on the documentation, and the cog wheel in the top right (indicating you're a Jira Admin), I would assume the "All Timers" option may be limited to Jira Admins.

Either way, hope you enjoy your weekend with this new little nugget of knowledge.
