How do we restrict team members from logging time in past dates

Ayush Agarwal October 6, 2021

Hi,

We would want to restrict the members from logging time in dates that have passed, for example a restriction that on October 07th, they cannot log time for October 4th or likewise. Also, they should be restricted to edit the logged time after 24 hours of logging it.

Thanks for help in advance,

regards,

Ayush

Hi @Ayush Agarwal

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!!

If you want it to be taken as a suggestion I suggest (ha!) raising it as a support ticket with Atlassian or creating it at https://jira.atlassian.com/projects/

If you're looking for an alternative method of working perhaps I can suggest an app?

We've had good experiences with Tempo. You can use their Tempo Timesheets app to track time and have them be submitted for approval. It integrates nicely with JIRA worklogs and you can prevent them from changing the times once a timesheet is submitted/approved.

Your reporting would then come just from the approved timesheets.

Hi @Mayur Jadhav ,

Thanks for your prompt revert. We ARE using tempo (my bad, I should have specified). Can you please suggest / guide how to restrict back date time logging?

Hi @Ayush Agarwal

Please ask them to submit the previous time sheet. Please select reviewer as a Manager. Once the time sheet submitted and approved by reviewer then you can't change log even edit the previous sheets.

Thanks @Mayur Jadhav . This means that after submission, time can be added / edited but after approval, it cannot be. Is my understanding correct?
