How do we show the sprint goal on the Scrum Board after October update?

Since October 16th with the new layout we can't see the Sprint Goal at the top of the sprint anymore. Is it possible to re-enable this somehow?

Hi @Catherine Ojok

To which October update are you referring?  I do not see any notes about sprint goal changes in the release blog information: https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/blog

When I just tried showing the sprint goal for company-managed and team-managed project, scrum boards they worked as expected.

Please post an image showing what you are observing, with the goal configured and the board  (or backlog) not showing the goal.  Thanks!

Kind regards,
Bill

It seems like they have meant to have moved here but probably it doesn't work as we've 2 concurrent sprints on this board (previously when we filtered by sprint the goal would show)

I'd like to echo this, the sprint goal (and name) should be front and centre, not hidden behind a button.

Echo the sentiments of others here that the sprint goal should be front of centre however with the new navigation it is not showing anymore in the Active Sprint view which is very frustrating

I find this a bit of a miss.  Why call it a scrum board and then do not showcase the sprint goal.    This removes visibility from the team and its stakeholders on why the sprint is valuable and when its ending.

Mirroring the same. The team checks the sprint goal daily.

This is pretty stupid.  Literally your own Agile/Scrum documentation mentions Sprint Goals as an integral part of the Scrum paradigm, yet you hide it on your own scrum board. ?!?

https://www.atlassian.com/agile/scrum/sprints

  • "Make sure the team sets and understands the sprint goal and how success will be measured. This is the key to keeping everyone aligned and moving forward toward a common destination."

https://www.atlassian.com/agile/scrum/sprint-planning

  • "The Outputs – The most important outcome for the sprint planning meeting is that the team can describe the goal of the sprint and how it will start working toward that goal. This is made visible in the sprint backlog."

https://www.atlassian.com/agile/scrum/scrum-master

"Having an effective scrum master in place helps balance the cost of changing course with the benefits of efficiency. A good scrum master does this by empowering the team to decide how to best accomplish goals through self-organization."

https://www.atlassian.com/agile/scrum/jira-confluence-scrum

  • "A scrum team tends to have a more rigid structure, clearly defined goals and deliverables, and predetermined team roles."
  • "Your team should inspect current progress towards the sprint goal and create a plan for the day."

...

My suggestion is to either place the sprint goals static section back to the top of the scrum board for high visibility, or remove mentions of Sprint Goals importance from your help Software Development documentation.
