In JIRA Software, Server 7.6:

Under "Boards" the "Recently visited Boards" are shown.

Under "Projects" the "Recent Project" are shown.

Under "Issues" the "Recent Issues" are shown.

How long exactly is "Recent"? After which time are boards, projects and issues not listed anymore in these areas?

A week, or a month or .....?

If you are saying about top menu "recent" object it is not related to time, but your activity. If you open a new project, board, issue the lat from recent list is removed.

Hm,,,,

But what if the user only has access to three projects and three boards of which two he doesn't use anymore.

Will the two unused projects and boards than remain forever in the "Recent" lists?

If you are saying "doesn't use" it might mean that he is still having access, but do not use, or access have been removed. It is a little bit different case. Overall it is very rare case that someone would like to remove this from the list since it is automatically removed, but if there is such a I am pretty sure that only 3 will show if someone remove access and if you still have it it will stay there until you will not open new project, boards or issues. So you might just open something different than on this list to remove the unwanted "recent" references.

Its the first case.

The Background: On our productive JIRA we have a "Playground"-Project used for internal trainings and playing around. To enable each user to see that project (we have some houndreds user) we added the group "jira-software-users" to the users for this project.

Now one of our senior users tells me he don't want to see the Playground-Project, the Issues in the Playground-Project or the Boards of the Playground-Project anymore. And up to now I haven't found a way to fullfill this request.

JIRA is designed with sharing in mind.

Not sure if this was a business (management) decision to open the project to all users, but it is always a problem if an individual do not want to see "something". If this was a business decision he should live with that he is having this access - just simply do not view this project.

If this was not a business decision but someone just decided that all users will get access then you would need to fix this by creating a dedicated group and put this group in a specific role that have Browse Project permission. Of course this single user should not be a part of this new group.
