Hi Priya,

I think there's something missing from the other answer's thread.

You say "

I am using the  Jira on the below url   https://jiradc2.ext.net.nokia.com/.

But now I need to use the Jira API. Jira API will support the atlassian.net URL2."

These are going to be two independent systems.   One is atlassian-server, and the other atlassian-cloud.

You might be able to set up https://jiradc2.ext.net.atlassian.net, but it's not the same system (or even software) as the other one.

I've used the prefix there because people often get confused in the cases where they are talking about "running stuff on the Cloud".

A lot of people run Atlassian stuff on AWS, GC, Azure, etc, and call it "Cloud", which is correct for the wider usage of the word, but they're actually still running Atlassian Server (or Data Center) there.  Atlassian-cloud is software-as-a-service.

So, we are able to say that you are running   https://jiradc2.ext.net.nokia.com/ "on the cloud", but it is not Jira-Cloud software, it's Server or DC.

HI @Priya welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The Jira URL is the Base URL as well.

See Configuring the base URL for more info.

You can get in touch with Atlassian Support directly via https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

What you are looking for is unfortunately not clear. You asked that you need to know the Atlassian URL though you are already on your URL.

As a self-hosted customer, going by the URL you shared (Atlassian cloud customers usually have something in line of https://xxxyyyzzz.atlassian.net), there is no such thing as an Atlassian URL.

If you are following a documentation that mentions something in line with this please check and confirm you are looking at the right documentation for your hosting type. Reach out to your Jira Admin if you need actual verification of this information.

If you are seeing multiple projects then understanding what you want to do would allow us know where to point you to.

I am using the  Jira on the below url   https://jiradc2.ext.net.nokia.com/.

But now I need to use the Jira API. Jira API will support the atlassian.net URL. For the above URL contains one project.

I need to access that project through Jira API.

For that I need to generate the Atlassian URL. I am not able to find the right URL for the Atlassian to communicate with Jira API

Hi @Priya

I believe there’s a misunderstanding here. You are looking at a documentation for developing for Jira cloud rather than Jira server here which sorry to say would not work.

These 2 are based on totally different APIs and structures.

If you are developing for jira server please find the following development documentations:

  1. Java: https://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/7.6.1/ (adjust version to match your Jira version)
  2. Rest API: https://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/REST/7.6.1/

One of these should aid your development.

Regards.

Hi,

Yes you are correct. I am going try to use the rest api with cloud server.

For that authentication step. I am using the basic authentication . I have created the api token and username

https://your-domain.atlassian.net/rest/api/3/issue/DEMO-1 - In this example I am not able to find my domain on the jira url[ https://jiradc2.ext.net.nokia.com/.]

Can you help me to get my domain url  for nokia [ https://your-domain.atlassian.net/]

I have following this url

https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/intro/#authentication

Hi @Priya

Sorry I can’t help here.

It will be best to speak with your Jira administrator and I am not sure anyone here will be able to help.

First, confirm what hosting method you have Server/DC or Cloud hosting. (S)he will be able to advise you better than anyone in the community because we have no access to your site and no knowledge of it.

From your URL, I have reiterated multiple times you seem to be on server but it seems you are certain you are on Cloud so as I don’t have any access to your instance sorry to say I can’t help here.
