Hi,
Similar to this implementation of comment transition in classic (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-add-a-comment-during-a-transition-779160682.html)
I would like to prompt the user with a comment field, which will be require input while transitioning the issue from one step to another in the next-gen software project of jira.
Thanks,
Garry
Hi @Garry Song
This isn't possible yet.
There is a suggestion which is ongoing for workflow configuration - see JSWCLOUD-17434. I'd suggest adding a comment here in regards to your need.
Aside from moving to a Classic project, an alternative might be to use Automation to prompt comments. This doesn't make them mandatory during the transition, but you could use Automation to add a comment requesting the Assignee / Reporter add a comment, every time an issue is transitioned through X Status (for example).
Let us know if Automation sounds of interest and if you'd like an example :)

@Ste Wright Hi Stephen -
is it still not possible to add a comment to a transition in a Jira Service Project?

They just deployed workflows per Issuetype associated with JSWCLOUD-17434 - Ability to edit workflow in team-managed projects also reference this article- New-Feature-Different-Workflows-per-Issue-Type-for-Team-Managed-Projects
I’m unsure of the capabilities as yet as I have not played with it. However, if the workflow solution does not meet your needs and a canned response would meet your needs then consider using Automation.

This isn’t available as yet in NG projects
