How to add "Fixed" or "Done" resolutions

Zachary Dworkin November 18, 2021

I am a JIRA administrator for my project (I am not the owner of the project).

I have been trying to add more fields to the "Resolutions" tab when updating the workflow of an issue to "To Closed".

There are currently: Unassigned, Wont fix, Duplicate, Not a defect, Transferred, and Product Change.

I think these are all from the WRK-DPDDS-ALL-1-All, or the WRK-DPDDS-ALL-3, workflow schemes.

I looked at this person's similar question and found  Configure status, resolutions, and priorities, on how to do what im trying to accomplish.

I have tried the steps on  in the "Adding, editing, and deleting a resolution" tab but they do not work.

Both the cog in the top right and bottom left of the page do not have an "Issues" option for me to click on for step 1.

Please advise on how to do this.

You have to be a Jira system administrator in order to add resolutions. If you don't have the "issues" option, that seems like an indicator that you are not a Jira system admin. This is different from a Jira project admin, where you have control of a singular project. To add more resolutions, I would recommend reaching out to your Jira system administrator.

Thank you, I will do that.

I can't find a way to contact the system administrator. Do you know how to do that?

I think that there's typically a "Contact Administrator" button on the login page, but it should be whoever set up your Jira instances. You may have to inquire with your organization if it's unclear. For example, our IT team runs Jira, so if our users have issues, they know to contact IT.

I suspect you do not have the necessary permissions if you do not see Issues. It is important to note that this field is global so all projects will see the new resolutions unless you want to get into changing the properties which gets messy.
