How to add validator on the Log Work Screen

Hi,

I wonder if validation is possible on the Log Work screen.

Meaning : For example, I want to check the amount of Time Spent entered and inform user to alter the amount if it exceeds the specific value. This action will be performed after clicking the Log button and before the event is triggered by the button.

Is there any way to perform this task ?

Hi @Alp Doğan Fidan , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.

I would say, also after reading a few other similar questions, that this will be difficult to achieve with the standard Jira functionality. I don't think you indicated whether this was for self-hosted or cloud.

That is to say, you probably need an app to achieve this, either something to extend the functionality of the workflow validators, like this -

Workflow Enhancer for Jira | Atlassian Marketplace

Or something like ScriptRunner where you could have a listener where you could script a response to action of the work being logged and compare with some target value for the number of hours you want to spend.

I would check out the Workflow Enhancer app, if you don't have someone who can help you with the scripting.

I think the ScriptRunner way suits for me, since I have an acknowledge about the scripting.
