Hello,
I'm new to JIRA. I have a query in using the JIRA to assign specific skills to a User. We have 14 members in our team. Each and every one have a specific skills. For example, 2 of the members in our team have a skills in HTML and they can only work in HTML based task in a project.
Now, I want to add a skill "HTML" to a user and we should only assign him to a task which is HTML. Unfortunately, I couldn't able to add a skill to a user. I have read some of the post for steps and procedure to do that but haven't got an answer.
Could anyone please help me to make that?
Looking forward to receive a reply.
The best way I can think of for Jira without any plugins is to create a component (eg HTML) and set the component lead to one of the HTML devs then set up a post function on the issue creation transition to assign the issue to the component lead on creation.
The drawback to this is that you can only have one component lead and therefore every issue that has the HTML component will be assigned to them and they can then delegate it to other devs that do HTML.
I am sure there are other ways to do this with different plugins but I don't know them and this is what I can think of without needing any plugins.
@Josh Carolan Thanks so much. I have tried as per your suggestion.
1. Created a Component
2. Set one of the dev as a Component lead
After that I have created an issue and set the above said created component. After doing this, I have seen the dev has been assigned automatically to the created issue.
In this case, why we should have to setup a post function.
Please guide me with this.

Sorry, that is my mistake - no need for a post function. The auto assign to component lead is part of creating the component rather than a separate post function. Glad it is working for you :)
