How to auto assign an issue created by automation to the active sprint ?

vshah June 11, 2020

When I move an issue from Status A to Status B in Project A , I want to

1) Create a bug in Project B,

2) Assign it to user X

3) Map it to the active Sprint of the Project B

4) And ensure the status of the bug is a specific status (In testing ) and not the default status of all newly created issues

I have managed 1) and 2)

Need help for 3) and 4)

Hello @vshah

Thank you for reaching out.

Per your description, I understand you want to automatically select the Sprint for the new issue created with the automation above and transition it to a specific status. Is that correct?

Since your rule will interact between two projects (A and B), you must create a Global rule to achieve your need. These would be the steps:

  1. Navigate to project A > Project settings > Automation > Click on Global Administration > Create a new rule
  2. To achieve the goal you described in step 3, you can simply use the Sprint field to select the active sprint related to project B. P.S: In the example below, I used the project "Scrum" and "test" for A and B:

  3. To achieve the goal you described in step 4, you will need to create another automation rule, using a field value to identify when the issue should be transitioned to "In testing" or not. Example:
    • In the automation rule you already created in step 2, add a default value to any field. This field will be used to distinguish when new issues are created from this automation:

    • Create a new automation rule at project B (test), automatically transitioning all the issues to the status you want when they are created with the field value you provided in the first automation:Screen Shot 2020-06-12 at 19.33.28.png
    • Under Rule details, mark the option to allow other rule actions to trigger this rule

Let us know if you have any questions.

@Petter Gonçalves

The solution worked. Your solution was to the point and highlighted all the areas which I could have gone wrong with it.

Working perfect . Thanks
