I have a Kanban Board set up and I am the owner. I can amend users to project administrator but not a board administrator.
Does anyone have an idea how i make someone a board administrator?

What happens when you try to update the board administrators? Are you getting an error message? Is the field not editable?

Are you working with Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center?
What type of project are you working with?
You can find that information in the Type column on the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
If you are using Jira Cloud projects will be classified as Team Managed or Company Managed.
If it is a Team Managed project, then all users assigned the Administrator Role in the project can administer the board.
If it is Company Managed or you are working on Jira Data Center then you add administrators to the board by going to the Board Configuration > General tab. You get to that by clicking on the button labeled with 3 dots in the upper right corner over the board.
