@Eran Roiter have you considered using "Scheduled" as the trigger of your automation?

You have the option to "Run a JQL search and execute actions for each issue in the query.".

After you choose a schedule and publish you also get a button to "Run Rule" so you can run the automation (with your JQL query) ad hoc.

I don't think this action can help me in what I'm looking for, my wish is to somehow have option to do a bulk change to let's say 20-30 automations together.

@Eran Roiter , Have you considered exporting all of your automation rules to JSON and working with them in that format? I found this awesome article on working with automation rules in JSON that might be helpful: Hacking/Parsing Automation Rules with JSON for Fun and Profit

Daryl says:

Automation Rules can be exported and imported as JSON files, which is useful if you wanted to copy/share rules across Jira instances. But this feature can be exploited for some other tasks probably not intended by the Code Barrel guys.

Some examples, which I've detailed below:

  • Finding all rules where a user is being set to Assignee or another user field. Very helpful when someone leaves the company. (Thankfully Atlassian saw fit to add a Transfer User option, which lets you replace all references to one user with another. If you need to perhaps do this selectively, then my tips on that might still be helpful.)
  • Validating repeated elements in rules, like link types. ~This is where I think your use case of updating Labels might be comparable.

Export to a JSON File:

In Jira settings, select System > Automation rules. You’ll be navigated to the global Automation screen.

In the top right corner, select > Export rules. This will download a JSON file containing all global and project-scoped automation rules.

Hi @Eran Roiter ,

welcome to the Atlassian Community!

JQL won’t help you here, JQL is for searching for the issues, not automation rules.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? What changes are you interested in?

Thank you.

Hey thanks for your replay.
I have lots of automations, and i want to add labels for example.

Then i might want to delete some of them.

just want to have to option to do somethings in a bulk, and not one by one.

Thanks
